The Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial placed six new bricks honoring seven people who gallantly served and sacrificed across three generations of conflicts during a Sept. 9 ceremony organized by the Belief Center of Canton.

Funeral services for Roger Leland Smith, 76, of Greenville, formerly of Edgewood, were held Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at Hiett’s Lybrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Marline Randall, a resident of Las Vegas since 1996, passed away at her home on March 4, 2023, after a surprising recurrence of aggressive cancer. She worked with CCSD at Rancho High School before retiring in 2016. She was born in Long Beach, California, in 1949, to Zane Eugene Heitsche and Lola Fay (Bates) Heitsche.
