The Canton Eaglettes’ golf team competed Sept. 26 at the Whitestone Invitational at the Whitestone Golf Club in Benbrook and came home in first place by 40 shots over several Dallas-Fort Worth schools including Stephenville, Abilene High and Benbrook.

One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident Sept. 23 on FM 279, three miles west of Edom, according to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sgt.

Donald Lynn Whitehead, 71, of Chandler passed away on Sept. 21, 2023, in Tyler with his family by his side.

Sandra Jean Boyd was born May 22, 1949. She had been a lifelong resident of Chandler.

Funeral services for Danny Ray Jennings, 80, of Edgewood were held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Willow Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.
