Donald Lynn Whitehead, 71, of Chandler passed away on Sept. 21, 2023, in Tyler with his family by his side.

A graveside memorial service to celebrate Donald’s life and lay him to rest was held on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park in Mabank. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Disabled Veterans of America in Donald’s honor.

Born June 26, 1952, in Marlow, Oklahoma, Donald is the son of Norvin Woodrow “Nob” Whitehead and Harriett Louise Pittman. Donald was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as an aviation mechanic. After the Navy, he spent his long career working for Halliburton and TXU Energy. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and home improvement projects. Donald was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for his family. His dedication to his role as a father and husband was truly exceptional, and he leaves behind cherished memories of love and care.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gaye Whitehead of Chandler; his son Sonny Whitehead and wife, Alicia, of Keller; his son, Jonas Whitehead and wife, Ann, of Canton; his grandchildren, Madelyn and Makenzie Whitehead of Keller and grandsons, Colton and Chase Whitehead of Canton; two sisters, Virginia Whitehead of Spokane, Washington, and Patricia Stout of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and one brother, Clinton Whitehead of Houston; several nieces and nephews.
