1925- 2023 Ruby Nell (Foster) Norman, 98, of Canton gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. She was born on May 23, 1925, in Grand Saline.

1946- 2023 Funeral services for Nancy “Keeta” Lybrand, 76, of Wills Point were held Monday, June 5, 2023, at Russell Memorial Methodist Church in Wills Point. Visitation was held prior to the service.

1933-2023 Funeral services for Irby Leroy Farmer, 89, of Edgewood were held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Hiett’s Ly-Brand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Visitation was held one hour prior to service time.

Kristen Washington has filed to run as the Democratic candidate to fill the vacancy for State Representative, House District 2. Cerrie Drake-Terry will serve as her Treasurer. A Special Election has been called for November 7, 2023 to fill the vacancy created by Bryan Slaton.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has called for a special election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 7 to select a new state representative in Texas House District 2 to replace Bryan Slaton.
