Four VZC varsity football teams competing in playoffs starting Nov. 13, 14

Van Zandt County will have four varsity football teams competing in the state playoffs beginning Nov. 13, 14.
Coach Kevin Bachtel’s Edgewood Bulldogs (8-2 overall this season), the District 9-3A, Division 2 champions, will take on the fourth-place team in District 10-3A, Division 2, New Boston (6-4), in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in a Class 3-A, Division 2, bi-district playoff game Thursday, Nov. 13 at Pine Tree Stadium in Longview.
Coach Joe Drennon’s Grand Saline Indians (8-2), the runner-up team in District 9-3A, Division 2, will face the District 10-3A third-place team, DeKalb (6-4), in a 7 p.m. kickoff in a Class 3-A, Division 2, bi-district playoff game Thursday, Nov. 13, at Sulphur Springs.
Coach Heath Ragle’s Canton Eagles (9-1), the runner-up team in District 6-4A, Division 2, will meet the District 5-4A third place team, Caddo Mills (7-3), in a 7 p.m. kickoff in a Class 4A, Division 2, bi-district playoff game Friday, Nov. 14, at Royse City.
Coach Jared Moffatt’s Van Vandals (6-4), the runner-up team in District 7-4A, Division 2, will take on the District 8-4A, Division 2, third-place team, Center (5-5), in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in a Class 4A, Division 2, bi-district playoff game Friday, Nov. 14, at the Tomato Bowl in Jacksonville.
