Shirley Jean Morgan

Services for Shirley Jean Morgan, 89, of Canton, were held Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Dr. David Christine officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Morgan passed away July 27, 2024, in Tyler.
She was born February 7, 1935, in Canton to Truman Carter and Doris Clever Corley Carter. Shirley was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. She served for 19 years as the Van Zandt County Treasurer. Shirley was president of the Canton Chamber of Commerce in 1985 and served on the Chamber Board of Directors for 10 years. She was the Chamber of Commerce ‘Woman of the Year’ in 1987. She also served on the board of directors and treasurer of the Van Zandt County Fair Board and was the Past President of the American Cancer Society. She served as a board member and treasurer of the Salvation Army for 17 years.
Shirley also served on the board of directors and was a member of the Canton Lions Club since 1987. She served as Treasurer of the Canton Eagles Booster Club for 10 years and was a member of the Booster Club for 20 years. Shirley was honored by Canton ISD and the Eagle Football Team in 1997 for 50 years of continued attendance at Eagle ball games, missing only two games. She contributed many years of service to organizations all over the county because of her love for people.
Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Morgan; parents: Truman Carter and Clever Carter; and three brothers: W.T., Rex and Gary Carter.
Shirley is survived by her three brothers: Kenneth and Mary Carter, Devon Carter, and Cois and Judith Carter; sister, Sandra Ivy; good friends: Elizabeth Everitt, Mary Beth Dean and Judy Peoples; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Craig Everitt, Kenny Everitt, Jeff Everett, Michael Lynch, Tony Morgan, Tony Carter, Rick Carter, Raymond Pruitt, Kenneth Pruitt, Bobby Colacino, Dee Carter and Scott Carter.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
