Funeral services for Pedro “Pete” Vasquez, 69, of Edgewood were held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral home in Wills Point. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.

Pete passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

Pedro Vasquez was born on June 29, 1952, in Edgewood, to parents Felix Vasquez, Sr. and Porfiria Ophelia Vasquez. He lived most of his life in the Edgewood community. Pete worked in Farmers Branch at a battery factory in the 1980s and later worked as a cook for Wagon Train BBQ in 2000. He was employed by Van Zandt County for three years before retiring. Pete always found wood to chop or yards to mow to keep busy most of the time. He loved to have a garden to share vegetables with friends and family. Pete was known for cooking delicious brisket, ribs, and his potato salad was one of a kind.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Porfiria Vasquez.

Pete is survived by his sons, Tony Vasquez and wife Marie of Louisiana, and Davin Vasquez and wife Maristhel of California; brothers, Theodore Vasquez of Dallas, Domingo Vasquez of San Antonio, Felix Vasquez Jr. of Grand Saline, and Rudy Vasquez of Allen; sisters, Cecilia Klob of Wills Pointm, Leanor Laughlin of Farmers Branch, Maria Mora and husband Juan of Mesquite, Candy Hinson of Grand Saline, Juanita Russell of Edgewood, and Irene Griffin and husband Ralph of Grand Saline; grandchildren, Elizabeth Post and husband Eric, Lauren Zuther and husband Anthony, AJ Vasquez and wife Deanna, Joshua Vasquez, Davin Vasquez Jr. and Liam Vasquez; great-grandchildren, Ainslee, Tripp, Alivia, EJ, Arlo and Easton along with other close family member, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
