A celebration of life for Mr. Matt Means, 56, of Fruitvale, was held Sept. 22, 2021, at Grand Saline High School Gymnasium with his son, Chris Means, officiating.

Carl Matthew Means passed away Sept. 18, 2021, at his home in Fruitvale. He was born Oct. 13, 1964, in Grand Saline, to Carl Nelson and Patsy Monk Means. Matt spent all of his life in Grand Saline and graduated from GSHS Class of ’83.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Means.

Survivors include his fiancée, Molly Fears of Fruitvale; mother, Patsy Means of Grand Saline; two sons, Brandon Means and Brittany of Lindale, and Chris Means and Jessica of Grand Saline; daughter, Anna Means and Odrick Ray of Denton; stepson, Justice Boswell and Alexis of Fort Sill, Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Hailey Boswell of Gilmer; brother, Brian Means and Lisa of Grand Saline; sister, Lisa Means McMakin and Tim of Grand Saline; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Means, London Ray, Gabe Means, Claire Means, Hartley Means, Liam Means, Boston Ray, Landon Means, and Grady Means and numerous other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Steve Neace, Dewayne Mosley, Danny Fears, Jeff Means, Clay Waymire, Greg Fisher, Mark Means, Scott Smith, Kevin Brewer, and Mike Means.

The family received friends with dinner and fellowship following the service on Wednesday at Bedrock Inn in Grand Saline.
