Services for Mr. Joe Lease Sellers, Jr., 85, of Tyler (formerly of Grand Saline), were held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Ronnie Fisher officiating.

Interment followed in Woodside Cemetery.

Mr. Sellers passed away Nov. 21, 2022, in Tyler. He was a lifelong Texan, even as he served his country. When Joe returned to Grand Saline, he enjoyed running into neighbors and friends around the town he loved so much. His family was blessed with a lifetime of love and leadership. Joe was born Dec. 11, 1936, in Grand Saline. He graduated from Grand Saline High School, Class of 1955. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Texas A&M University and graduated, Class of 1962. He then served in the U. S. Air Force, where he retired as a Lt. Colonel, after 20 years of service. Mr. Sellers was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, and their Rejoicer’s Sunday School class. He taught Math at GSID and had also owned/ operated The Texas Look (Western store) on Main St. in Grand Saline. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Lease Sellers, Sr. and Mildred Naomi Allen Sellers, and his son, Dr. Joe Sellers, III.

Survivors include his wife of 64 ½ years, Charlotte Sellers of Tyler; two daughters, Kellie Wheeler and husband Tim of Tyler, and Karen Paige Sellers of Lindale; daughter-in-law, DeAnn Sellers of West Plains, MO; brother, Paul Sellers and wife Beverly of Denton; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Joe Sellers, IV, Lance Sellers, Wyatt Sellers, Nate Sellers, Gabe Sellers, Timothy LaPrade, Billy O’Sullivan, Carlos Fabian, and Matt Runcorn.

The family received friends Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at the funeral home.
