Services for Jack S. Golden, 90, of Canton, were held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment was in Haven of Memories.
Mr. Golden passed away March 27, 2022, in Athens. He was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Myrtle Springs to Earl William and Viola Vasti King Golden.
Jack was a member of the Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point. As a 14-year-old boy, he became a Christian at a brush arbor revival in Myrtle Springs as they were singing “Just As I Am.”
Mr. Golden served six years with the Dallas Police Department and then 21 years with the Dallas Fire Department where he retired as a captain. Jack was never content staying still. He owned and operated an ambulance business for several years, prepared taxes for people and mowed pastures. He enjoyed working on his farm, raising cattle, growing gardens, hunting, fishing and making muscadine wine.
Mr. Golden is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Golden; parents, Earl and Viola Golden; brothers, James Golden, Ben Golden, Ray Golden and Curtis Golden; and sisters, Earline Reynolds, Lois Mince, Nevia Collett, Shirley Wimberly, Opal Turnage and Lillian Miles.
Jack is survived by his son, Don and Maggie Hoefnagel of Lakewood, California; daughter, Cindy and James Jordan of Dallas, two grandsons, Michael Hoefnagel and Daniel and Maria Hoefnagel; sister-in-law, Lue Golden of Myrtle Springs and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
