Helen Byers Neill, 93,Wills Point, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, in her home.
Helen was born on May 29, 1928, in Wills Point to the late Henry and Ada Cockerham. She was raised and spent most of her life in Wills Point. Helen was a member of New Release Fellowship Baptist Church. She was married to her late husband John Samuel Byers until his passing in 1969. Helen married John Neil on Aug. 1, 1987. Together they shared 34 years of their life. Helen taught at various school districts throughout Texas retiring from Wills Point ISD. Helen dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family. Serving faithfully in many church ministries including Vacation Bible School, visitor pie ministry and establishing a church library.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Benjamin and Ada Elizabeth Cockerham; husband, John Samuel Byers; brothers, Harold, Naville, Jack, Eugene, John and David and sisters, Judy, Elizabeth and Betty.
Helen leaves behind her beloved husband John Dempsey Neill; son, John Samuel and Cindy Ann Byers; daughter, Ginger Byers and James Wilson Webb; grandchildren, Ginny Elizabeth Jacobs, Jamie Suzane and Jason Campbell, Elizabeth Marie and Rebekah Anne Byers; great-grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth and Grant Thomas Jacobs, Jalyn Suzane and “soon to arrive” Jaxon Micheal Campbell.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2022, at 10 a.m. at New Release Fellowship Baptist Church in Wills Point. Family will be receiving guests one hour prior for visitation service. Graveside services will follow at Haven of Memories in Canton.
