Services for Douglas Marshall Toliver, 83, of Canton, were held Friday, August 1, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Larry Toliver officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories.
Mr. Toliver passed away in Canton on July 28, 2025. He was born on March 16, 1942, in Haskell to David Owen and Mamie Lou Turnbow Toliver.
Doug, nicknamed ‘Slick’ at a young age, grew up in Paint Creek, Texas. He graduated from Merkel High School where he enjoyed playing sports. He coached soccer and baseball in Canton’s youth programs.
Doug served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked for over 50 years in the oil and gas industry.
He loved his job and took pride in a job well done. Doug was one of the hardest working men you’d ever meet.
In his free time, he loved spending time with his family, tending to his cattle, fishing, playing golf and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
Doug became a Christian when he was saved during Vacation Bible School. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, David and Mamie Toliver; five brothers: Carroll, Pete, Bobby, Tom and Jim Toliver; two sisters: Betty Jo Delaney and Glenna Fay Rhoads; and a grandson, Timothy Douglas Toliver Jr.
Doug is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Toliver; daughter, Cne’ Toliver; son, Tim and Stacey Toliver; five grandchildren: Jarrett and Lauren Toliver, Jayden and Eryn Toliver, Teagan Toliver, Lucas Toliver and Avery Toliver; three great-grandchildren: Lainey Toliver, Sutton Toliver and Tate Toliver; a great-granddaughter on the way; sister, Linda Higgins; four sisters- in-law: Judy Toliver, Sonja Toliver, Quilla Toliver and Nelda Toliver, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jarrett, Jayden, Teagan, Lucas and Avery Toliver.
