Christopher Lusk
1979-2021
Christopher Arthur Wayne Lusk was born Oct. 10, 1979, and departed to heaven Sept. 28, 2021, in Myrtle Springs, Texas, surrounded by family who loved him.
Hugs mean so much more to all who knew, loved, and will be dearly missing Chris, who unexpectedly passed after a variety of health issues in recent months. He was in many ways a gentle giant who was giving, caring, and loving.
Chris was friendly and kind, a caregiver to his family and shared compassion wherever he went. He loved music, played piano, had a great singing voice and enjoyed singing at church with his family. He loved animals, buying, selling, and working on cars, going to old car shows, karaoke, and traveling. He had a generous heart, enjoyed caring for others, and bringing joy. A 2011 graduate of Stephen F. Austin University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Chris was also an ordained minister. He loved using his voice in many ways, as an instrument for sharing with others, singing and worship, expressing his love for Christ, his people, and his country. Chris was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend to so many.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Lusk; father, Ronald Wayne Lusk (Karen); brother, Kevin Laredo; sisters, Amy Brumbalow and Kari Mapes (John); aunts, Marie Sims, Gail Applegate, and Diane Bird (David); uncle, Mike Tharpe (May); nephews, Ashton Laredo, Blain Shipp, Austin Brumbalow and Brett Brumbalow; nieces, Daisy and Tessa Mapes; cousins, Kimberly Lamm, Stephanie Millington, Jamie Burciaga, Brian Tharpe, Aaron Tharpe, Jerry Skinner, Monica Skinner and Suzanne Kanon plus many other cherished friends, family, and his beloved dog, Salvador.
He was preceded in departure by his grandfather, Merrill R. Tharpe; grandmother, Leona J. Tharpe; grandfather, the Rev. Deward F. Lusk; grandmother, Lawanda E. Lusk, and aunt, Debra Czagas.
When Chris was welcomed home into the gates of Heaven, we wonder who all was reaching out first for that big hug as he was greeted by those who went before him.
A celebration of life for Christopher Lusk will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Grace Family Church, 1953 Mill Creek Rd., Canton, Texas, 75103. Visitation with friends and family starts at 11 a.m. followed by the service at noon. Following the service, all are welcome to join the family and friends for lunch in the fellowship hall. Gifts of flowers may be delivered to the church.
