1936 - 2023

A funeral service for Billie Louise Wise Peace, 87, of Canton, was held Saturday, August 19, 2023. Visitation was held at Eubank Funeral Home.

Billie passed away with family by her side on August 16, 2023, in Grand Saline. She was born on February 18, 1936, in Van Zandt County, to George Lee Wise and Mary Alberta Bow Wise. Just like her husband, Billie’s family had deep roots in Texas. The Wise family settled in Van Zandt County. Some of Billie’s great, great grandparents arrived on the same ship having immigrated from Norway and Denmark and settled in Texas in 1848. Billie grew up in the Whitton Community. She graduated from Canton High School in 1956 and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canton. She married her true love on June 3, 1956. The couple was three days away from celebrating 67 wonderful years of marriage when J.L. passed in May.

Billie was very involved in taking care of her family and was a wonderful homemaker for them. She tended to all her family’s needs whether it was keeping them fed, or clothes on their back. She supported their hobbies, such as Jimmy’s hunting and fishing, and was a big part of Tammy’s school activities.

Billie was loved by many, especially her family. She will be missed until she is reunited with her family again one day.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Wise; beloved husband, J. L. Peace, and brother, Albert Wise.

Billie is survived by daughter, Tammy Gilmore and husband, Mike; son, Jimmy Peace and wife, Sylvia; grandson, Capp Peace and wife, Natasha; great-granddaughter, Billie Peace; sister, Sherry Ward; sisters-in-law Judy Wise and Elizabeth Bruner, many nephews, nieces, and cousins, along with a host of friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Capp Peace, Joey Peace, Junior Peace, Danny Bruner, Mark Wise, Jeffrey Wise, Jerry Wayne Ward, Kenneth Dean, Lloyd Shinn, Al Campbell, Martha Weatherall, Bear Childs, Virgil Jones, and Mike Davis, along with Johnny Higginbotham and Jerry Priest (posthumously).

Interment was at Haven of Memories Memorial Park Cemetery in Canton.
