Burial followed at Small Cemetery in Edgewood. Alba Ollie Wesson Bryson, lovingly known as ‘Babe,’ passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Tyler at the age of 94.

Babe was born on July 24, 1930, in Edgewood to Joseph Glenn Wesson and Fannie Leota Wilcoxson Wesson. She grew up in Edgewood, where she attended school. At the young age of 18, she married Jack Lavon Read, with whom she shared a devoted marriage until his untimely passing at the age of 29. Babe displayed strength and resilience as a young widow, raising her two children while working two jobs in Dallas.

In 1969, Babe found love again and married James Thomas Bryson on April 11. Together, they built a life filled with love and family, living in Pleasant Grove before settling in Wills Point in 1981 to remain close to loved ones. Babe had an incredible talent for sewing and could craft intricate garments without the use of patterns, including cheerleading uniforms with perfectly pleated skirts. Her creativity and dedication were admired by many. She also found joy in gardening, tending to her yard, and fishing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Fannie Wesson; first husband, Jack Read; infant twins; sister, Dorthea Graham; brother-in-law, Mac Foster.

Babe is survived by her husband, James Bryson of Wills Point; son, Joe Read and wife, Lydia, of Edgewood; daughter, Glenda Stanglin and husband, Bill, of Garland; sister, Glenda Ruth Foster of Edgewood; grandchildren, Joseph Read, Stacey Read and Jonathan Read; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian Read and Bryson Read.
