Michael Benuit, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 20, 2022, in Canton. He was born on Aug. 13, 1950, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Reginald and Rosemary Benuit.

Michael grew up in Ft. Worth and graduated from Polytechnic Senior

High School. Michael was involved in cars since his first job at General Motors in Arlington where he established many lifelong friends. Michael “Mike” worked as used car sales manager at various dealerships throughout the DFW area until he began his wholesale business.

Michael enjoyed restoring cars to their beauty and glory. In his free time, he loved to go fishing, tinkering in his shop, and watching old movies. His favorite sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. In the evening, he would watch the sunset. Michael loved a simple life and dearly loved his wife and family. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone who needed help. His memory will live on in those that knew and loved him.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Norma Jean Benuit; his children, Sidni and Michael, Leigh Ann O’Brien & Ryan Hinners, and Kenneth Gage; grandchildren, Gretchen Hinners, Arlo Gage, and Kaitlyn Swope, several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Emma Dell Thompson who raised him, and his parents, Reginald and Rosemary Benuit.
