Funeral services for Jeremy Oats, 43, of Wills Point were held December 22, 2025, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Visitation was held one hour prior to service time.

Jeremy passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his home.

Jeremy Ray Oats was born on June 1, 1982, in Dallas to Gary and Ramona Burnett Oats. He grew up in Wills Point, surrounded by family and friends, and spent much of his childhood at Burnett’s Grocery Store, the family business. There, he helped Nonnie and Pop and gathered with friends.

He graduated from Wills Point High School in 2000. Following graduation, Jeremy worked for the Texas Department of Transportation, where he served as a foreman.

Later in life, he lived with his Nonnie, helping to care for her until her death on May 2, 2025. They shared a close bond and enjoyed conversations about anything, including Christianity, politics, and current events.

Jeremy enjoyed music of all kinds, with playlists that ranged from oldies to country to rap. He also loved good food and eating out, always happy to be with friends and family and enjoying the moment.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Richie, grandparents, Weldon and Juanita Oats, and Raymond and Betty Burnett.

He is survived by his fiancée, Sherry Langdon; parents, Gary and Ramona Oats; uncles Donn Burnett; Pat Burnett and wife, Trisha; Cris Burnett and wife, Daphne, all of Wills Point; Denny Oats and wife, Alma, of Terrell; Ronald Oats and wife, Lila, of Elmo; Bobby Oats and wife, Brenda, of Elmo; aunts Darlene Ward and husband, Ron, of Canton; Vickie Bunch of Terrell; Anna Warner and husband, Luke, of Van; and Tami Wallace and husband, William, of Terrell; and several special cousins.
