Services for Lloyd Garrett were held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Edom United Methodist Church with visitation prior to the service, and Pastor Jimmy Salles officiating.

A reception followed in the fellowship area. He was laid to rest at Edom Cemetery. Family served as pallbearers. Lloyd Aaron Garrett was born May 28, 1930, in Canton. He had been a resident of the Ben Wheeler/Edom area all of his life.

Lloyd served in the U.S. Army and worked as a police officer in his earlier years. He then spent 20 years with La Gloria Oil & Gas Co.

In 1990, he and his wife, Dalpha, bought The Shed Café, which they ran together until 2001. He was a servant to his community, serving on the Edom VFD and Van ISD School board.

He was a member of Edom UMC and was a 50-year Mason, belonging to St. John’s #52 in Tyler.

He passed away at the age of 94 on April 6, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Luther Garrett and Marledy Emma Hogue Garrett; daughter, Vicki Hawk; brothers, Thurman Garrett and Dorsey Garrett; and sisters, Gertrude Rumbo and Faye Alexander.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dalpha Garrett of Ben Wheeler; children and their spouses, Lance and Karen Garrett of Weatherford, Gene and Michele Garrett of Houston, Bubba and Renee Price of Edom, and Marqueta Palmer of Ben Wheeler; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and countless other family members and friends.
