Thurman Ray Lawley, 83, of Canton was born December 26, 1941, in Van Zandt County to Elam and Levie Lawley. He died February 15, 2025 in Grand Saline with his children by his side. Ray was the owner and operator of Mr. Ray’s Coiffures for almost 50 years. He was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Canton. Ray was survived by daughter, Renee Lawley; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Shawn Cowgill; son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Angela Lawley; stepdaughter Sandi Jones; stepdaughter and son-in-law Dusty and Patrick Knotts; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren along with his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Peggy Lawley, and many nieces and nephews.Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Evaughn Lawley; parents Elam and Levie Lawley; sister, Fransis Marie Clayton; brother, L M Lawley; and sister, Mary Alice Dozier. A graveside service was held at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.
