Betty Jo ‘Me-Me’ Kinsey
1933-2023
A funeral service for Betty Jo Kinsey (Me-Me), 89, of Lone Oak, Texas, was held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Jackson officiating. Betty went home to the Lord on March 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Canton on April 20, 1933, to Charley Cecil and Rosa Oree (Westmoreland) Knowles. Betty grew up in Mesquite and attended Mesquite High School where she and her siblings hold the record for the largest family to graduate. During high school, Betty showed her love and support of her family by buying her father his first car. She paid $15 a month that she earned from her first after school job. Soon, Betty met the love of her life in Vernon Kinsey, and they were married on Nov. 21, 1952, and shared 65 amazing years together. During those years, Betty became known for her selfless acts of kindness. She was a tender-hearted woman that never met a stranger and if you knew her, you loved her. Betty believed in gathering her whole family for large holiday feasts where she could make her delicious chicken and dumplings, and Betty was famous for pickles. She loved to spoil all the kids within reach and give them what was known as “MeMe”itis. When Betty was ready to spoil herself, she loved to garden, collect anything with a chicken on it, play 31 with dollars instead of pennies, and she got upset if she lost.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernon Kinsey; her parents, Cecil and Oree Knowles; granddaughter, Brandy Kinsey; sisters: Juanita Knowles; Wanda Morris, and Mary Ann Amburn; brothers, Bobby Knowles; Cecil Don Knowles, and Loy Mack Knowles.
