VZC has 1,397 active cases of COVID-19
The Northeast Texas Public Health District reported that there have been 7,195 confirmed or probable cases (cases with a COVID-19 positive antigen test), including 4,274 confirmed cases and 2,921 probable cases as of Monday, Sept. 20, in Van Zandt County.
Health officials currently classify 1,397 cases, or 19.7 percent of all cases since the pandemic began as active. There are 5,711 cases of COVID-19 that are recovered. As of Sept. 20, there were 160 new cases of the virus. Deaths from the virus make up 1.2 percent.
The number of cases in Van Zandt County since the pandemic began now includes: 2,082 in residents with Canton addresses; 1,724 cases in residents with Wills Point addresses; 892 cases in people with Grand Saline addresses; 752 cases in people with Ben Wheeler addresses; 659 cases in people with Van addresses; 581 cases in people with Edgewood addresses and 234 cases in people with Fruitvale addresses.
Additionally, there have been 129 confirmed and probable cases in people with Mabank addresses since the pandemic began; 96 cases in people with Murchison addresses; 80 cases in people with Eustace addresses; 44 cases in people with Chandler addresses; 20 cases in people with Athens addresses; 10 cases in people with a Brownsboro address and seven cases in people with an Edom address.
