A memorial service will be held for Debbie Hubbard Duke at 10 a.m. on Fri. Jan. 12, 2024, at Hilliard Funeral Home in Van with Pastor David Darst officiating.

Debra Lynn Hubbard Duke was born June 9, 1955, in Dallas. She had been a resident of the East Texas area most of her life. She graduated from Van High School in 1972 and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brownsboro. Debbie worked for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Easter District of Texas for over 30 years before retirement. She was known to volunteer and help anyone in need. She had a big heart and a talent for organizing parties. She loved to plan events with her girlfriends and helped with their class reunions. She enjoyed all kinds of crafting, like embroidery, beads, and wreaths, spending countless days and hours in Hobby Lobby. Above all, she was an amazing “Mammy” to her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Debbie passed away at the age of 68 on Dec. 27, 2023, in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Joe Hubbard, stepfather, Howard “Gay” Weaver, and infant brother, Billy Ray Hubbard.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Wayne Duke of Edom; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ryon & Amy Gross of Parker, Texas and Jeremy and Lauren Gross of Slidell, Louisiana; mother, Betty Weaver; siblings, Sandy Nevitt, Randy Weaver and wife, Jill, and Brent Weaver; nine grandchildren, Camden, Avery, Ally, Isabella, Olivia, Gianna “GiGi”, Jackson, Emily, and Ben; her beloved dog and friend, Ruger; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
