Van, Canton represented on basketball All-District Team

The Van Vandals and the Canton Eagles were well represented on the District 15-4A All-District Boys’ Basketball Team released March 4. Representing the Vandals on the First Team were junior Rawly Hinch and Kale Carter.

The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs (30-5) took on Lipan (34-5) March 5 in the Class 2A, Division 2, Girls’ State Championship basketball game in San Antonio but results were unavailable at press time. Martins Mill is the two-time defending State Champions and were attempting to ‘threepeat’ in San Antonio. Check out the March 15 issue of the News for results of the state championship contest. Annual Report of VZC Genealogical Society approved

davidb@vanzandtnews.com With a unanimous vote, the 2025 Annual Report of the Van Zandt County Genealogical Society was approved Feb. 25 during the regular meeting of the VZC Commissioners Court.

City of Wills Point Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Administrator Pam Pearson spoke during the Feb. 25 regular meeting of the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court. Pearson informed the commissioners’ court that she represents VZC on the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Board of Directors. DAR begins 250th anniversary celebration in style

The National Society Daughters of the Americal Revolution (NSDAR), Neches River Chapter, celebrated the American Revolution and the upcoming 250th birthday of the nation on Feb. 23 with a visit to The American Revolution Experience exhibit in Mabank. The exhibit, sponsored by the Sarah Maples Chapter NSDAR, presented storyboards, a raffle, activities and artifacts on the roots of the United States’ break with Great Britain and the people and events of the RevolutionaryWar.
