Body Fourth place in the district boys’ basketball race involving the Van Vandals was still up for grabs as they finished the regular season in a fourway tie for the last post-season berth in their district.

Body The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs opened their 2024 playoff run in impressive style Feb. 12 as they dominated Grapeland at home, 71-27.

Body The Edgewood Lady Dogs varsity basketball team improved their season record to 25-9 as they eased past Bells, 43-41, in the bi-district round of the girls’ state basketball playoffs Feb. 13.

Body After leading by only four points at halftime, the Van Lady Vandals came through with a strong second half performance Feb. 13 to outlast Sulphur Springs, 54-43, in the Class 4A bi-district girls’ basketball playoff game.

Body Like Yogi Berra used to say, it was ‘déjà vu all over again.’ One week later, same teams, same result.
