1951- 2023 Caleb Warren Lux, 71, of Wills Point, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at his home. Memorial of Celebration will be on May 20, 2023 from 1-4 p.m.

1928-2023 Funeral services for Truett Edwin Tunnell, 95, of Grand Saline, were held Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with John, Jonathan and Janley Appleton officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

1940-2023 A funeral service was held for Alva “Lawson” White, 83, of Wills Point on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Eubank Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Cartwright officiating. Lawson went home to the Lord on May 2, 2023, in Tyler, Texas.

The Van Vandals faced a tough draw to open this year’s baseball playoffs, clashing against a talented Liberty-Eylau squad with a consistent track record of reaching postseason play. The two teams began their best-ofthree series May 4 with Liberty-Eylau riding a five run third inning on their way to a 6-2 win.

The Van Vandals were forced to put in some extra time on the diamond before the start of this year’s postseason last week, meeting up with Brownsboro for the third time this season to determine final seeding for this year’s playoffs.

The Edgewood Bulldogs entered play against the Rains April 29 riding high, having defeated the Wildcats four nights earlier to set up a game to determine this year’s District 12--early and never fully recovering in a 5-3 setback that moves the Bulldogs to a two-seed entering this year’s playoffs.

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 31st annual national food drive on Saturday, May 13. Letter Carriers will join forces with community leaders and others to help fight hunger in Dallas and throughout the country.
