First Baptist Church of Canton will host the Resist the Drift marriage conference from Focus on the Family. “Many couples have a good marriage but often feel they’re drifting apart,” Pastor Mike Roberson says. “Resist the Drift helps couples recognize those areas where they feel disconnected and then gives them action steps to rebuild the connection and strengthen their marriage.”

Midway Church of God, located at 17470 East Highway 64 in Ben Wheeler, has announced that they will be hosting their 2022 Women’s Conference beginning at 6 p.m. Aug.

The Republican Women of Van Zandt County hosted a training on election integrity in conjunction with the Leadership Institute. David Ferguson presented 40 attendees with strategies in planning to run an organized, focused campaign.

Services for Mr. Roscoe “Roscoe P. Coltrain” Gore, 82, of Mineola, were held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Eagle’s Landing Indoor Venue, Mineola, with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Funeral services for Asa Wayne Shelby, 50, of Wills Point, were held Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial followed at Small Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to service time.

Services for Mary Frances Malone Kitchens, 93, of Grand Saline, were held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Bro. Billy Smith officiating.

Graveside services for Cecil Delbert Kindle, 92, of Grand Saline, were held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Woodside Cemetery with Taylor Rogers officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Lucille Geddie was born December 22, 1925, in Colfax, Texas, to the late Eugene Matthews and Tillie White Matthews. She and her husband moved to Lancaster in 1950 and then settled back in Ben Wheeler in 1981 for retirement. Lucille had been a member of the Colfax Methodist Church since childhood. She enjoyed quilting and made more than 2,000 quilts, mostly baby quilts donated to underprivileged children. She was an avid reader and noted for her baking skills. She was a positive role model, making the best of what life offers and appreciating every moment.

A celebration of life for William D. Polley Jr., 78, of Winnsboro, was held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. He was welcomed home in the arms of his Lord and Savior while visiting with family and friends on July 27, 2022, in Terrell.

Ronald Ray Howie, 71, of Terrell, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Dallas. Ronald was born on November 9, 1950, in Terrell, to Iva Lea Howie and Albert Van Buren Howie Jr.
