Golfers shine at District 14-4A Tournament

The Canton golf program hit the links at Van Zandt Country Club April 4, squaring off against programs from Athens, Brownsboro, Mabank, Van and Wills Point for a chance to advance to the Regional Tournament April 18-21.

Eaglettes sweep rival Van

The Canton Eaglettes rounded the bend of district play last week, tangling with the Mabank Lady Pantehrs in the last game of round one and the Van Lady Vandals in the first game of round two. Canton would split the two contests, moving their district record to 6-1 overall with three games left to play in the regular season.

Lady Cats blitz Yantis, 17-2

The Fruitvale Lady Cats kept stat keepers and scoreboard operators busy on Tuesday night, batting around multiple times to take an easy 17-2 win over Yantis. Fruitvale began the night with a flourish, sending up 12 batters in the first on their way to a 6-0 advantage.

Bulldogs breeze past Paris Chisum

The Edgewood Bulldogs put together a complete team effort against Paris Chisum April 5, dominating at the plate, on the field and on the mound in an 11-2 rout of the Mustangs. Edgewood set the pace throughout the game’s opening innings, pushing across two runs in the first and four in both the second and third innings to seize a 10-1 lead.
