Eaglettes stretch shutout streak to three

Body The Canton Eaglettes entered last week looking for a bounce back game, having seen their four-game district winning streak snapped with a 4-1 loss to Mabank April 1.

Lady Indians get past Chisum, 4-3

Body The Grand Saline Lady Indians made the trek to Paris on April 12, dueling with Chisum in a key District 12-3A matchup. Grand Saline would pull out the victory in the contest, keeping the Lady Mustangs at bay to earn a 4-3 win.

Van Vandals breeze past Athens, 9-1

Body The Van Vandals stayed busy last week, playing three games total over a five-day span including a pair of district contests. Van went 2-1 overall during the three games, downing both Mabank and Athens.

Three compete at Yellowjacket Relays

Body Canton, Van and Wills Point all made their way to Mineola last week to compete in the Yellowjacket Relays as a final tune-up before the District 14-4A Meet in Wills Point April 12 and April 14. Individual varsity boys results included: -100: Joseph Rolland, WP, second, 11.

Grand Saline Indians stay hot in district play

Body The Grand Saline Indians continued to build up positive momentum heading towards this year’s postseason, running their winning streak to five games overall with triumphs over Lone Oak and Paris Chisum last week.

Eagles best Tigers in rivalry game

Body The Canton Eagles played host to a familiar foe on Tuesday night, clashing with the rival Wills Point Tigers in a District 14-4A showdown. Canton would go on to get the better of the matchup, breaking open a tie game in the third inning on their way to a 7-1 win.

Body The Martins Mill track and field team competed at the District 19-2A Meet April 6, performing well enough to qualify five athletes to the Area Meet.

Van School Board adjusts calendar for Veterans Day

Body Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11, will be recognized as a full-day school holiday at Van ISD following the amended approval of the 2022-’23 school calendar by the Van School Board during its regular monthly meeting March 28.
