He graduated from Canton High School in 1961 and went to work for Western Union until 1965. He then went to work for Mobil Pipeline Company in March of 1965. On June 20, 1970, he married Mary Ann Koerth Rogers. They lived in Houston and Midland before being transferred to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where their daughter, Kimberley, was born in 1975. In April 1976, they were transferred from Michigan to Medan, Indonesia. After this project was completed, they were transferred to Corpus Christi in 1978. In 1979, they were transferred to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where they lived until 1983 before being transferred back to the Dallas office. After 28 years and numerous back surgeries, he retired from Mobil.

After retirement from Mobil, he occupied his time by selling vehicles at Canton Motors and selling boats at H & W Marine, until another back surgery forced him into permanent retirement. He served on the CISD Board of Trustees during the construction of the new high school where he oversaw the daily progress. He was also active with the Athletic Department; filming football games, organizing fundraisers for facility improvements, and raising funds for students participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to attend summer camps in Colorado.

He faithfully supported and followed the girl’s golf team while his daughter played as they advanced to the State playoffs each year. He also organized fundraisers, blood drives, and platelet drives until a donor match was found for Justin Greer, who had been diagnosed with leukemia while playing football at CHS. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton where he served on various committees.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Ann; a brother, Mike; brother-in-law, Kent Koerth and niece, Bobbi Rogers.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberley Rogers of Santo, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Kay Rogers of Canton; sister-in-law, Jane Koerth of Port Neches; Nephew, Craig Rogers of Canton; Niece, Kristi Vannett of Kingwood; Nephew, Clay Koerth of Humble; Niece, Margaret Smith of Canton; Niece, Melanie McClung of Canton and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
