Jerry Paul Boswell, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services were held. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at Eubank Funeral Home with Pastor Randall Terrill officiating. Graveside services followed at Oakland Cemetery under the director of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Jerry was born April 7, 1942, to J. P. and Willene Rinks Boswell. He attended Wills Point schools. Jerry grew up with a strong work ethic and innate ability to “fix” whatever was broken. Jerry’s mother loved to tell the story of finding Jerry taking apart a lawnmower, laying out the pieces in precise little piles just to figure out what made it work. Jerry married Paulette Reid on Nov. 24, 1961. At his death, Paulette and Jerry had been married 59 years and 11 months. Jerry retired from Kelly Springfield/Goodyear Tire Company on March 31, 2003, after a 37-year-career that began in 1966. While at Kelly Springfield, he was an active emergency medical technician and in the Repel Rescue Program. Paulette and Jerry lived in the Swan community near Tyler, from 1966-2002. During that time, Jerry was an active member of Swan Baptist Church and served as a deacon for 25 years. At his death, Jerry was a member of Oakland Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon. He also was currently serving as a board member of the Oakland Cemetery Association. In 2002, Jerry and Paulette moved from Swan to the Oakland/ Colfax Community in Van Zandt County, where they built a house and began their country life and where Jerry lived until his death. Jerry enjoyed the country life tending his cattle, mowing pastures, tinkering around, and visiting with friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, operating heavy equipment, but most of all, he enjoyed driving around the countryside in his truck, “Ole Brown”. He had a passion for genealogy, loved traveling, and enjoyed visiting with people.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Paulette; sons, Dan Boswell of Kilgore and Randy and Kimberly Boswell of Scurry; two grandchildren, Brittany and Robbie Brown of Lindale, Justin and Jessica Boswell of Lindale; five great-grandchildren, Colten Brown, Ethan Robertson, Averie Brown, Zander Boswell, Zoe Boswell, Jake and Julie Washburn, Gage Bradshaw, and Kayden Bradshaw; sisters, Karen Boswell of Wills Point and Barbara Carrington of Mineola as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers were Justin Boswell, Jeremy Reid, Eric Carrington, Tim Smith, Colton Brown, and Kayden Bradshaw. Memorials may be made to Oakland Cemetery Association or Oakland Baptist Church.

“He fought the good fight, He ran the race well. He kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
