A celebration of life for Danny Oliver Cupp, 88, of Edgewood, was held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Danny left this earth peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, in Dallas after an extended battle with cancer. He has achieved his lifelong goal of becoming a resident of Heaven.

Danny was born on Nov. 3, 1933, in Point, to parents O.A. “Bud” and Permelia “Sally” (Hamilton) Cupp. Raised throughout Rains and Hunt Counties. Danny graduated from Bland High School in Merit Texas. Upon graduation, he and some friends went to work for the FBI for 1 year in Washington DC. Upon returning from D.C., Danny lived in Garland and worked for T&P Railroad where he became a computer system analyst. He was drafted in 1955 and served in the US Army in Korea. After working for the railroad and other companies, he started his own successful computer service company in the mid 1960s. He moved to Lucas, Texas, and went to work for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. While working for AAFES Danny’s work took him to Virginia, Mississippi, Madrid, Spain and to Germany. Danny returned to the computer field and finished his career at the EPA in Dallas, Texas.

Danny and Shirley Cain Cupp were married for over 37 years and made their permanent home in the Edgewood community. Danny was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Edgewood, and also a member of the Texas Baptist Men organization where he helped build churches and work on the disaster team. He was a devoted and loving husband, big brother, father, and grandfather. An avid sports fan, he loved to watch his grandkids play sports. He loved his family as he loved his Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister Louise Cupp.

Danny is survived by his wife, Shirley Cupp of Edgewood; daughter, Terry Adams and husband Chuck of Italy, Texas; son, Danny Steven Cupp and wife Kathy of Mesquite, Texas; stepson, Terry Lynn Hall and wife Gaile of Edgewood; brother, Amos Cupp and wife Ann of Wolfe City; grandchildren, Toby Adams and wife Kelly, Misty Adams Drain and husband Jason, Daniel Cupp, Erin Parker, Amy Hagan and husband Kane, Jaime Malouf and husband Craig, Terry Hall, Jr. and wife Annie, Stacey Towns and husband Rob; along with many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
