Services for Iris Bernice Ewing, 98, of Canton, were held Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories. Bernice passed away February 22, 2024, in Canton.

She was born January 29, 1926, in the Edgewood Community to James Roscoe and Georgia Louise Dillard Reid. Bernice grew up on a farm where she helped harvest various crops. After graduating from Edgewood High School, she completed Draughn’s Business School in Dallas. During World War II, Bernice worked in Dallas to help with the war effort.

After the war, she lived in a lady’s boarding house. She even worked on a dude ranch. Later, she became a secretary for Horizon Oil and Gas for many years. Bernice was a Christian by faith. She enjoyed playing Bridge and cooking. She found her passion in oil painting and studied painting at an art school in Dallas.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, James Roscoe and Georgia Dillard Reid; husband, William “Bill” Ewing; three brothers: Jimmy, Johnny and Tommy Reid; and sister, Linda Joan Page.

Bernice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jerome Mosman of Fort Worth; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Diane Ewing of Eustace; six grandchildren: Cynthia Sage, Stephanie Storey, Jenifer Ewing, John Mosman, Candace Ewing and Megan Mosman; three great-grandchildren: Haley Sage, Nicholas Sage and Ian Mosman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were John Mosman, Steve Reid, David Reid, Doug Reid, Dr. Chuck Page and Nicholas Sage.

Visitation was Feb. 27 at the funeral home.
