Services for Mr. Charlie Wheeler, 88, of Fruitvale, were scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Bro. Donnie Herring and Bro. Homer Morgan officiating. Burial was in Creagleville Cemetery.

Mr. Wheeler passed away April 8, 2024, at his home. He was born January 21, 1936, in Fruitvale to Bennie D. and Lela Mae McDougle Wheeler. Charlie retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. He served in Germany, South Korea, and Vietnam, while in the Army. Charlie was a member of Riverside Mission Church, owned and operated Circle W Tack Shop, and enjoyed ranching.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Lane Wheeler; five brothers, Vernon Wheeler, Bennie J. Wheeler, Ray Wheeler, Stanley Wheeler, and Larry E. Wheeler; and three sisters, Betty McCellon, Katherine Abrahamson, and Barbara Wheeler.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Linda Wheeler of Fruitvale; two sons, Denny Wheeler and wife, Stacie, of Lindale, and Charles Lee Wheeler and wife, LeAnn, of Fruitvale; two daughters, Robin Cartwright and husband, Jeff, of Canton, and Darlinda Wheeler and Casey Brookshire of Amarillo; sister, Stella Noble of Turlock, California; 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Frank Elliot, Johnny Taylor, Stephen Stone, Tyler Wheeler, McCabe Wheeler, Casey Cheshier, and Justin McLean.

The family received friends Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the funeral home.
