Total COVID-19 count now at 5,692

Information released by the Northeast Texas Public Health District reported a total case count of COVID-19 at 5,692 in Van Zandt County. Active cases number 1,046 with recovered cases at 4,570.

The number of cases in Van Zandt County since the pandemic began now includes: 1,655 in residents with Canton addresses, 1,355 cases in residents with Wills Point addresses; 728 cases in people with Grand Saline addresses; 600 cases in people with Ben Wheeler addresses; 540 cases in people with Van addresses; 421 cases in people with Edgewood addresses; and 160 cases in people with Fruitvale addresses.

Additionally, there have been 107 confirmed and probable cases in people with Mabank addresses since the pandemic began, up from 106 the previous week; 60 cases in people with Eustace addresses, up from 59 cases; 63 cases in people with Murchison addresses, up from 54 cases; 41 cases in people with Chandler addresses, up from 40 cases; 18 cases in people with Athens addresses, unchanged from the previous week; seven cases in a person with a Brownsboro address, up from six cases; and six cases in a persons with an Edom address, unchanged from the previous week.

NET Health has now reported 76 COVID-19 related fatalities since the pandemic began, including 18 in county residents with a Canton address, 13 fatalities in Grand Saline, Van and Wills Point, seven in Ben Wheeler, six in Edgewood, three in Mabank, two in Murchison and one in Athens.

Overall, females have accounted for 3,059 of all county cases while males have accounted for 2,618 cases.

Vaccination

NET Health operates an immunization clinic at 815 N. Broadway St. in Tyler. Hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Anyone over the age of 18 can choose to receive either the Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccine, the two-dose Pfizer vaccine, or the two-dose Moderna vaccine.

At this time, NET Health is not providing booster doses for anyone who is already fully vaccinated.

The two-dose Pfizer vaccine will be available to anyone over the age of 12 and the second dose can be received at least 21 days after the first dose.

The two-dose Moderna vaccine is available to anyone over the age of 18 and the second dose can be received at least 28 days after the first dose.

The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available to anyone over the age of 18 and there is no need for a second dose.

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or their legal guardian at any of our COVID vaccine clinics.

If you have recently tested positive for COVID, you have to wait at least 14 days before receiving your first or second COVID vaccine. Please consult with your doctor for confirmation.
