As we look forward to the start of a new year in 2023, the year 2022 in Van Zandt County could be remembered for a number of accomplishments and disappointments along the way but it could never be called uneventful.

In a 3-2 vote Dec. 21 by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court during the court’s final regular meeting of 2022, the court decided to withhold VZC funding temporarily for the Ben Wheeler Fire Department.

1936-2022 Services for Earline Fisher, 86, of Grand Saline, were held Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at Bartley Funeral Home.

Amidst flurries of faux snowflakes, Santa Claus makes an appearance during the Edgewood Holiday Parade of Lights on Saturday, Dec. 17.

After weeks of gathering funds, Wheeler and company visited the Canton Walmart this past month, where they bought over 1000 toys, including bicycles, sports equipment, and more, for the Tunes for Tots event.
