A Third Amended Proclamation Declaring a Local State of Disaster regarding coronavirus in VZC was approved unanimously April 29 by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court during its regular meeting.

Piper stated she “wanted to say ‘thank you’ to healthcare workers.” CHRISTUS employee Misty Kimbrough stated that “Piper is a community hero. Our hearts melted when we saw what she brought us. What happened to our love of freedom? I speak of freedom in two senses. First, the rights of the citizens of this country to individual liberty and self-determination, rights enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution – the inalienable rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” granted by God to all His creatures, rights protected against government interference by the Constitution. Second, the freedom of Christians in Jesus Christ from sin, the freedom to live righteously in obedience to God’s word, the freedom to assemble for the worship of God and all the freedoms they enjoy as citizens of God’s eternal kingdom, granted to them graciously by God through faith in Jesus Christ.
