Tommy N. Elms Jr., of Canton, Texas, passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at the age of 88.
Tommy was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Waco, to the late Thomas Nevell Elms Sr. and Mary Jo Elms. He was raised in Irving, moving to Canton 25 years ago from Southlake. He retired from Laidlaw Transportation in 1993.
Tommy was a wise man of strong Christian convictions who loved Jesus and had a clever, well rounded sense of humor. Tommy enjoyed restoring antique John Deere tractors and was known for being able to fix anything. He was a patriot, an avid outdoorsman, gardener and a mechanic extraordinaire.
To cherish his memories, Tommy leaves behind his wife Shirley Elms of Canton, Texas; sons, Thomas (Andy) Andrew Elms and his wife Sandy of Kountze, Texas, and Timothy Joseph Elms and his wife, Marsha, of Coppell, Texas; daughters, Vicki Jean Newburn and her husband, Steve, of Southlake, Texas, Rebecca Ann Girouard and her husband, David, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Laurie Beth Steward and her husband, Keith, of Canton, Texas; brother, Daniel Joseph Elms and his wife, Judy, of Irving, Texas; sisters, Peggy Merle Lambert of Irving, Texas, and Sally Beth Elms of Irving, Texas; grandchildren, Christine, Matt, Michael, Sara, Thomas, Josh, Kadie, Ryan and Kyle and nine great-grandchildren.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patsy Kramer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec.19, 2020, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas.
