Funeral services for Richard “Richie” Garrsion Oats, 40, were held Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, 125 E. James Street, Wills Point.

He suddenly passed away Oct. 8, 2019, in Quinlan.

He was born July 1, 1979, to Gary Wayne Oats and Ramona Kathryn Burnett Oats in Dallas. He lived in Wills Point and worked alongside his father, Gary, tree trimming, tree pruning and tree removal. He attended Wills Point Schools.

He loved sports, good food and music. In his youth, he played baseball, basketball and soccer. As an adult, he loved watching all sports, especially football and his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Anyone who knew him knew he had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and loved to tell jokes. He never missed an episode of Impractical Jokers. Throughout his adult struggles, he fought to be happy and make others feel good.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Raymond Burnett and Weldon Oats; and cousins, Brian and Brannon Oats.

He is survived by his parents, Gary and Ramona Oats of Wills Point; brother, Jeremy Oats of Wills Point; grandmothers, Betty Burnett of Wills Point and Juanita Oats of Elmo; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
