Funeral services for Geraldine Kuykendall, 85, of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Mesquite, were held Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at the Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood with Bro. Joe Stanley and Bro. Tim Roberson officiating. Burial followed at Small Cemetery North of Edgewood. Geraldine passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, in Valparaiso, IN. Geraldine Burns was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Dallas. She was raised in Kemp by her parents Barney and Alta Rocha and graduated from Kemp High School in 1952. Geraldine attended college and obtained her associates degree in health care administration. She and Ronald Kuykendall married on March 14, 1953, in Dallas where they made their home for many years until moving to Mesquite in 1963. Geraldine worked for Parkland Hospital as an X-Ray tech and in nursing home administration for a short time but she was always a homemaker at heart. She was a member of the West Mesquite Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Union for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Alta Rocha and her husband, Ronald Kuykendall. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Jones and husband, Rick, of Edgewood, Debbie Jackson and husband, Will, of Wills Point, and Ronda Sharpless and husband, Melvin, of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Brandy, Brandon, Rusty, Ryan, Ronnie, Shelby and Savanah; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Pallbearers were Brandon Jackson, Rusty Johnson, Ronnie Patterson, Shelby Sharpless, Mark Hebert, Dylan Nguyen and Jet Temple.
