Bobby ‘Gene’ Montgomery

Bobby Eugene Montgomery passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at his home in Canton after a long illness.

Mr. Montgomery was born June 29, 1942, in Corpus Christi to Lloyd and Modine Chaney Montgomery. He grew up and lived most of his life in Canton.

As a teenager, he worked for Chick’s Gulf Service in downtown Canton. After high school graduation, he worked extensively for Aircondex Electric and Washington National Insurance Company until his retirement.

Bobby married his wife, Mary, on June 2, 1967, and they spent the next 52 years together. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, cooking and visiting with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and his wife’s parents, Earl and Nova Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Canton; mother, Modine Montgomery of Canton; daughters, Julie and James Eddleman of Canton, and Christi and Trey Hammonds of Arlington; brother, Billy Montgomery; sisters, Patricia and Billy Mills, and Kalynn Montgomery; brothers-in-law Earl and R.V. Taylor; sister-in-law, Alma Jo and Glen Jones; six grandchildren, Taylor, Mary, Jordan, Garrett, Wesley and Kristen; great-grandson, Emmett; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

No funeral or memorial services are planned.
