Services for Arlie Lee Staley were held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Hilliard Funeral Home with Bro. David Christine officiating. A graveside service followed at Starr Cemetery
He was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Lenorah. He was raised in Canton, where he also attended high school.
He lived in Dallas for many years and worked as a Rate Clerk for ICX until his retirement in 1982. He moved back to Canton in 1983, where he had since lived.
He was a member of Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s for over 50 years and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.
He loved farming, playing 42 with the senior citizens, playing the guitar, and was a talented wood-worker. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He passed away at the age of 93 on March 2, 2019, in Rowlett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlis Staley; parents, Willie Raymond Staley and Vergie Ina Reynolds Staley; and sister, Lottie Marie Staley.
Survivors include his two daughters, Denise Wendt (Richard) and Ina Hamilton (Gaylann), all of Sunnyvale; six grandchildren, Clinton Oliver (Stacey), Bonnie Geistweidt (Jeremy), Kimberly Hamilton, Stephen Wendt (Elissa Hoffman), Eric Hamilton (Stacie), and Joshua Wendt (Meredith); and six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Addison, Jake, Grant, Jackson, and Luke.
