Funeral services for Alfred Junior Akers, 74, of Murchison, formerly of Alba, were held Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, in the Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, Alba, with Bro. Chris Horton officiating.

Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba. Mr. Akers passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at his residence.

He was born June 7, 1945, in Wichita, Kan., to the late Harmon Otto and Mary Ruth Owens Akers.

He was a truck driver and a member of KJV Lighthouse Baptist Church of Alba.  He lived in Alba for 15 years.

He married Toyua Sue Russell on May 27, 2006, in Mineola. They lived in Tyler for nine years before moving to Murchison three years ago.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Toyua Akers of Murchison; son, Brian Akers and wife, Tammy, of Electra; daughters, Tonya Akers and life partner, Christine Dattos of Canton, and Susan and Johnnie Carsten of Palestine; sisters, Leona Southern and husband, Frank of Lafayette, Ga., and Nadine Leitzel of Wichita, Kan.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patsy Sipes Akers; son, Carl Blackmon; daughter, Linda Hudgins; and granddaughter, Mandie Oberlender.

Pallbearers were Brian Akers, Wesley Akers, Jerry Pogue, Andrew Bruso, Harold Miller, and Robert Leitzel.
