Lady Indians bounce back with three-set win

The Grand Saline Lady Indians continued their push to end their one year playoff drought, bouncing back from a three-set loss to Eustace Oct. 3 with a three-set win over Mineola Oct. 10.

Eustace, the current second-seed in District 12-3A play, got off to a strong start against Grand Saline by taking the first set 25-16. The Lady Indians picked up their play in the second, keeping play more competitive but still falling 25-22 to the Lady Dogs.

Eustace finished the sweep of Grand Saline in the third set, fighting off a stiff challenge by the Lady Indians to secure the 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 win.

Grand Saline coaches recognized sophomore libero Sarah Elliott as the team's Player of the Game for her efforts against Eustace which included 20 digs and two aces.

The Lady Indians bounced back Oct. 10, returning to the win column with an easy three-set sweep of the Mineola Lady Jackets.

Playing at home, the Lady Indians took the first set 25-18 against Mineola.

The second set would be the most competitive of the night with the Yellowjackets getting outpointed by Grand Saline 25-22.

The Lady Indians wrapped up the three-set sweep in impressive fashion, delivering their best play of the night to cap the 25-8, 25-22, 25-13 win. 

Grand Saline was scheduled to compete in three consecutive road matches, against Scurry-Rosser Oct. 13, Edgewood Oct. 17 and Alba-Golden Oct. 20, before returning home to close out District 12-3A play against the Quitman Lady Dogs.
