VZC Library Board approved by commissioners

New board officers and members of the Van Zandt County Library Advisory Board were approved by the VZC Commissioners Court during their Sept. 12 meeting.

Outgoing library advisory board member Russell Harris presented the recommended names to the commissioners’ court.

VZC Librarian Susie Pulley expressed her appreciation to Harris for his six years of service on the board.

“Mr. Harris has done an excellent job as president of our board and he is one of the best that we have ever had in that position,” pointed out Pulley.

In addition to Harris, who represented Pct. 3, rotating off the board, it was announced that Carolyn Daughtry, representing Pct. 4, has resigned due to scheduling conflicts.

Brenda Fuller, representing Pct. 1, is renewing a three-year term on the board which will end on Sept. 30, 2020.

VZC Library Advisory board officers for 2017-‘18 are Richard Briley, president; Jack Evans, vice-president and Dr. Jennifer Jones, secretary.

Janet Clem, representing Pct. 4, was named as a new addition on the board and will serve a three-year term ending on Sept. 30, 2020.

Representatives on the VZC Library Advisory Board included members from all precincts in the county that included Pct. 1, four members; Pct. 2, five members; Pct. 3, five members; and Pct. 4, four members.

The court also:

—Approved the Corder Addition Subdivision, located off of FM 3080 in south VZC, following a recommendation from VZC Pct. 2 Commissioner Virgil Melton Jr. Melton also gave a presentation on the Pecan Hill Estates Subdivision, located at the intersection of FM 1651 and VZCR 2304, which was also approved by the commissioners’ court.

—Approved a resolution in the amount of $3,475.25 for the Meals on Wheels Ministry Grant program.
