Young Lady Tigers Varsity "Will Play For Experience"
The Wills Point Lady Tigers have opened the season 0-2, and with the youthful makeup of this year’s team, along with having their fourth coach in four years, that trend could continue in the early part of the season.
Randall Speights takes over a girls program that returns two players with any varsity experience. Seniors Ashley Smith and junior Heather Harbaugh are the lone returners to varsity action. Alicia Robinson is the only other senior on the team to go with a total of seven juniors and two sophomores.
"There’s a lot of inexperience," Speights said. "But once these girls get some varsity games under their belt, they’ll play better."
In the opener against Mabank, the Lady Tigers fell 72-41. Sophomore Precious Spencer led the scoring with 16 points, including 10 in the third.
Harbaugh scored 14 in the 58-41 loss to Dallas Life on Tuesday, followed by Jimmysha Spencer with 7.
The girls will host Godley on Monday, November 24, with the freshmen beginning at 1 p.m.
