Fivecoat And Gillispie Earn Outstanding Lifter Trophies
The Wills Point Powerlifting Team competed in the Winnsboro Invitational on Saturday, with the girls finishing in second place, and the boys taking fourth out of twelve teams.
Three girls earned first place finishes. Brittany Fivecoat, in the 105-pound weight class; Katie Westberry in the 148; and Katie Gillispie in the 165. Fivecoat and Gillispie also earned Outstanding Lifter trophies, Fivecoat in the 97-148 group, and Gillispie in the 165 and up.
Hali Ramsey took second in the 114-weight class, while Cecelia Hernandez was second in the 165. Caitlin Fenley was third in the 114; Kacey Goss was fourth in the 148; and Berklie Pierce was fifth in the 123.
For the boys, Marshall Etheridge and Tyler Gooch each earned second place finishes, Etheridge in the 242-pound class, and Gooch in the 181.
Mile Malone took third in the 242 class, and Alex Anderson did the same in the 220.
Girls qualifying for the regional meet will be in Forney at a date and time yet to be determined. The boys’ regional is at Elysian Fields on March 8.
