Lady Mustangs Golf Places Second In State

MARTINS MILL—The Martin’s Mill High School Lady Mustangs Golf Team won the Silver Medal in at the Division 1A State Golf Tournament. The team shot a two-day total of 759, 12 strokes short of Memphis’ 747, and forty strokes ahead of third-place Meridian.
Christa Williams led the way for Martins Mill. Her two-day total of 159 was good for fourth place. She was folowed by Emily Wharton, who placed eighth by shooting a 167. The other team members, and their scores were, Whitney Johnson, 202; Haley Brantley, 231; and Kayla Glidewell, 259.
This year’s team has the distinction of finishing higher than any Martins Mill golf team in the history of the school. This was the fourth consecutive trip to the state tournament for the Lady Mustangs. In the three previous trips, they placed eighth, fifth, and third.
The ladies finished a highly successful year in which they won six invitational tournaments, a District Championship, and a Regional Championship.
