Post Office Column Damaged By Car
A brick column at the front of the Wills Point Post Office was heavily damaged when a car struck it last Friday morning.
An identity on the driver, a female, could not be obtained as of press time Wednesday.
Wills Point Postmaster John Hammes said the woman did not appear to be seriously injured but was "obviously shaken up" by the accident, which sent bricks from the column onto the car hood and windshield.
Hammes said the building is leased through a realty company in Elm Mott, Texas. He also said there was one other similar incident that occurred before he became Postmaster about three years ago.
He said he did not know how much the extent of the damage was to the building. Repair work on the building began Wednesday.
