Local Recognized For Work With Red Cross
Red Cross volunteer Tony Jenkins, of Wills Point, received a Special Cititation for Exceptional Volunteer Service, during a recent ceremony held at Eddie Deen’s Ranch in Dallas.
"Celebrating a Day in the Life of a Red Cross Volunteer" was the theme for the American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, during which the Red Cross paused to honor volunteers, community partners and staff for outstanding performance and dedication while meeting the needs of individuals and families in and around the Dallas area.
"The American Red Cross - Dallas Area Chapter considers this a special day to thank one of our most valuable assets – our volunteers," said Cheryl Sutterfield-Jones, chief executive officer.
"These award recipients have exhibited dedication to the Red Cross and the people of North Texas, whether by devoting time to knit items for children in local hospitals, teaching health and safety classes, or assisting individuals and families after a disaster. I also want to recognize and say thank you to all of the volunteers and staff who devote their time to helping North Texas prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters every day."
The award winners were selected by a panel of independent judges from nominations representing outstanding examples of commitment to the Red Cross and its mission.
Jenkins was nominated for his dedication and service in the Emergency Response and Recovery Department. Jenkins serves as the DFSC Warehouse Manager. The DFSC is a supply warehouse of the national organization located in Dallas that the Dallas Area Chapter manages.
Recipients of the award are being honored for performance over a period of years that has substantially exceeded the volunteer’s original commitment to the Red Cross.
