Wills Point Paramedic Arrested
A dispute over property between two Wills Point paramedics resulted in one arrest.
The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the residence of Melissa Pipes who reported that she had gone to the residence to meet her boyfriend, Mike Madden, so that he could remove his belongings.
A dispute arose over a window unit, and Pipes called the sheriff’s office.
According to the sheriff’s report, obtained by the Wills Point Chronicle through open records, Madden’s attempt to retrieve the telephone from Pipes resulted in Pipes’ being scratched behind the ear, and her hair being pulled.
Madden was arrested and booked in for a Class C assault and released.
"The matter is still under review," said city manager Jim Stephens. "The unfortunate thing for the city is that it took place between two city employees, and will likely result in disciplinary action."
Both Pipes and Madden, who work as paramedics for the city ambulance service, were placed on administrative leave with pay pending the review.
